Voting Rights & Civic Participation
Civic participation is the corner stone of civil society. In recent years there have been serious attacks on voting rights for poor people, the elderly, and people of color. The Voting Rights, restitution of voting rights for people formerly convicted of felonies, and access to legal identification are all necessary to ensuring the voting rights of all LGBTQ people.
Voting is a key part of full participation in our society. Critical to ensuring voting rights is identification that accurately reflects an individual’s identity. It is often extremely challenging for LGBTQ elderly, people of color, people living in poverty, and trans people to get identification that accurately reflects their identities.
