What a time we live in – 3/27 Weekly Legislative Update
March 27, 2017
What looks to be the last of the 2017 House and Senate committee meetings are being held early this week. Bills that pass in committee will be heard again by each chamber, debated, voted on, and, ultimately, could be signed into law. The budget is the last big hurdle on the horizon. We don’t want to be the ones to gossip, but there are whispers that this session could go into May — longer than usual. We will keep you apprised of the budget process.
HB 2404 that EQAZ first brought to your attention on February 18 was signed into law on March 23. This law will prevent petition circulators from being paid on a per-signature basis on any statewide initiative or referendum campaign.
Petition circulators can still be paid-per-signature when they collect for individual candidate campaigns.
We would still love your help this weekend, respond to this email if you want to have fun with us at our booth this Saturday or Sunday.
