6:30 pm - 7:30 pm June 28, 2023 | register
With each installment of Ask Smart People Smart Questions, Equality Arizona convenes a panel of experts to talk about the bigger picture of the big issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community in Arizona. While homelessness nationwide has stayed relatively flat over the past few years, the unhoused population in Arizona is growing at an unconscionable rate. Rental pricing is out of control, and statewide we have a shortage of 270,000 homes. All of this affects LGBTQ+ communities, including youth, disproportionately. Over the course of an hour, we’ll cover four big questions about homelessness and the housing crisis with the goal of adding important context to the conversation.

Ask Smart People Smart Questions: Transgender Healthcare
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm July 26, 2023 | register
With each installment of Ask Smart People Smart Questions, Equality Arizona convenes a panel of experts to talk about the bigger picture of the big issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community in Arizona. Critics of gender-affirming care often claim they are only asking questions, and accuse advocates for access to care of refusing to engage in a real debate. But outside of lawmaking bodies, the debate is happening, and we feel that it’s important to highlight the level of nuance and complexity involved in the reality of medical transition. Over the course of an hour, we’ll cover four big questions about transgender health care with the goal of adding important context to the conversation.

The politics of immigration have fundamentally reshaped Arizona’s political landscape in ways that directly feed into the policy debates over LGBTQ+ rights, and it’s important to highlight that overlap.
