Change begins with knowledge

The first step in working for LGBTQ+ rights is sharing our stories and educating people about who we are and how we live. The second is understanding how policy and elections decide whether equal rights are real. Both kinds of learning live here.

Know Your Neighbors

Know Your Neighbors

Most people who change their minds about LGBTQ+ equality do it the same way: they get to know someone. These resources introduce you to LGBTQ+ Arizonans — our lives, our families, our work, and our communities — in our own words.

Margin of Victory

Margin of Victory looks at elections, the people running in them and the stories we tell about what’s at stake. It’s rooted in Arizona but speaks to the whole country, because what happens here often shows where national politics is headed. The show pays close attention to LGBTQ+ Arizonans and pro-equality voters, both because they are our community and because they are a useful window into how democracy is working for everyone.

Community Education & Workshops

We bring education to your community — congregations, campuses, workplaces, and civic groups.

Workshops: Civic engagement workshops for LGBTQ+ youth; understanding the LGBTQ+ community for allies, clergy, and parents.

Speakers & trainings: Request an Equality Arizona speaker or training for your organization.

LGBTQ+ 101

Our LGBTQ+ 101 training provides a foundational overview on sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, and inclusive workplace or community practices. Our team will highlight how various policies impact the rights of LGBTQ+ folks, what we are missing, and the political landscape we are currently in.

Know the stakes

Equal rights aren’t self-executing. They’re written into law by legislatures, defended or dismantled in courts, and decided — ultimately — by voters. Understanding how that machinery works is how communities protect themselves and their neighbors.
